TAIPING TOWERS
The Taiping Towers project leverages a fully parametric workflow that generates a Revit model from site outlines. I developed a variety of tools to assist the team. First, a grasshopper panelization script generates the form from floor plate outlines. Several different optimization algorithms were used to tweak the outlines and panel sizes so that the final panelization avoided awkward sizes while minimizing cost. Once panelized, solar insolation, daylighting and view quality metrics were calculated for each unique panel. Then the team combined dissimilar metrics into panel type designations of varying opacity. The excel interface enabled fine-tuning of the final panel layout, ensuring that the design was informed by data without being dictated by it. This data was then fed into Revit to generate a model for documentation.
