DataSync

DataSync is a custom C# application that helps CRB enter, coordinate, and synchronize data across siloed platforms. Connectors exist for Revit, Excel, and Plant3D but the application is platform-agnostic and is designed to support the future development of additional connectors.

The DataSync user interface provides a streamlined workflow to help users choose which items and which features to synchronize across platforms. For example, a user can identify that a specific column in an excel workbook should match the Room Name parameter of a Revit Room object. Once the connections are "mapped", the app identifies discrepancies, supports the user as they review and resolve discrepancies, and updates the correct data across all connected platforms. Future development will support change logs, automatic reports and other features.

Task Loader Window

This window allows the user to load preconfigured "Tasks". This allows an expert to safely set up the data mapping configurations while users simply open the preconfigured mappings and synchronize the data.

Register Sources

When creating a new DataSync, this window allows the user to select which data sources to sync, such as a Revit model or an Excel workbook.

Plant3d Connection

This window shows the data imported from a Plant3D file.

Excel Connection Window

This window shows the data imported from an Excel workbook.

Data Mapping Window

This interface allows the user to assign the matching parameters across data sources. This is where the data mappings are established.

Data Comparison Window

Once a data mapping is established, we are ready to sync. Users can review discrepancies between the sources and are given the ability "resolve" differences by either choosing the correct value or entering a new value. They have the option to roll back changes. Once their work has been reviewed, they can click "Confirm" to push changes back to all connected data sources.
