This grasshopper workflow combines a python-based packing algorithm with an excel interface to assist designers as they try to fit program within floorplate capacities.

Many clients have dozens of business units that need to be relocated as part of a renovation. Who stays and who goes? How do planners fit groups into new areas while maintaining critical adjacencies? This workflow automatically packs groups onto floors based on a grouping hierarchy while allowing the user to override the algorithm to assign groups to particular floors. This dramatically speeds up the testing process and allows teams to work with clients to explore a variety of options. Additionally, the parametric model can be automated to test thousands of options which are then scored and sorted to deliver the best results. The resulting workflow augments designers with an algorithm without robbing them of their control or influence.
