Space Classification Tool
The Space Classification Tool is a custom C# Revit Add-in that helps designers correctly classify Revit rooms according to the CRB standard, which has three levels of classification. The tool includes an algorithm that automatically identifies the correct classification combination based on common room name types. It identifies which rooms are incorrect and guides the user through the process of fixing any issues.
CRB needed this tool because the detailed space classification standard they developed was too cumbersome for most teams to implement. This tool embeds the knowledge of the standard directly into the workflow so users have the information they need, when they need it. The auto-naming algorithm allows most Revit room category parameters to be assigned at a click of a button. Now that the process is no longer cumbersome, CRB is in a position to mandate that all teams follow the standard. This will allow them to collect quality data that supports benchmarking and future AI efforts.
